Oracle Recognizes Customers with First Annual Identity Management Innovation Awards
Cisco and Visa Take Top Honors for Their Identity and Access Management Initiatives
Redwood Shores, Calif, July 30, 2009
Recognizing outstanding identity and access management initiatives, Oracle announced that customers Cisco and Visa are the recipients of its first annual Identity Management Innovation Awards.
Oracle’s Identity Management Innovation Awards honor organizations for ground-breaking use of Oracle Identity Management solutions and were instituted to promote the development and communication of best practices for identity management implementations.
A panel of industry peers from Oracle’s Identity Management Customer Advisory Board judges the Identity Management Innovation Award recipients. This year’s panel comprised of identity management executives from Principal Financial Group, Qualcomm, Raytheon ISS and Chick-fil-A.
The winners demonstrated innovative vision and effective implementation of Oracle Identity Management solutions and achieved their goals in the form of business efficiencies, significant cost savings and successfully meeting security and compliance requirements.
About the Winners
Awards solution categories include: Best Access Deployment, secured by Cisco; and Best Directory Service Deployment, secured by Visa.
Cisco, a global leader in networking, communication and collaboration technologies, was chosen for their massive deployment of Oracle Access Manager (OAM) for its 2 million+ users. As part of their Enterprise Identity and Access Management (EIAM) program, OAM replaced a legacy SSO system to help improve the online commerce experience for Cisco’s customers, partners and employees and enforce regulatory, legal and corporate policies compliance.
Visa, the world's largest retail electronic payments network, was honored for their implementation of Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD), which allowed the company to centralize provisioning of corporate application access control information and externalize authorization controls out of applications, improving security, compliance and user administration and significantly reducing maintenance and IT operational costs.
“In today’s business climate, effective and efficient identity and access management isn’t just a nice-to-have, it is a business requirement that can give organizations a substantial competitive edge,” said Amit Jasuja, vice president, Oracle Identity Management. “The winners of Oracle’s first-ever Identity Management Innovation Awards have been recognized by their peers for proven success, beyond common practice, of identity management strategy and implementation. We are very proud of our customers and the results they have been able to achieve with Oracle Identity Management solutions and applaud this year’s winners.”
“Cisco IT executives, key stakeholders and the Corporate Security Programs Organization made a strategic decision to adopt an Identity Management solution to manage user identities and access to critical corporate resources,” said Sergei V. Rousakov, IAM Domain Architect, Cisco. “This decision was based on the company’s increasing pace, size and IT complexity following numerous acquisitions and integration of systems. OAM will provide a seamless SSO experience for over 2 million Cisco internal and external users.”
“Visa deployed Oracle Virtual Directory Services to provide applications with a single view of identity data and to facilitate the externalization of access control from the applications. Oracle Virtual Directory is part of Visa's Identity and Access Management infrastructure to streamline the access management processes for corporate applications,” said Paul Mezzera, Lead System Architect, Visa.
“Recognizing contributions to the identity and access management field is the aim of the Oracle Identity Management Innovation Awards,” said Hebert Todd Riggs, Principle Systems Engineer, Raytheon ISS. “Furthermore, by allowing customers to acknowledge the achievements of their peers, Oracle is helping its customers to identify more effective strategies to meet their changing and growing identity management needs.”
