Collect America Enhances Business Agility, Reduces Costs and Streamlines Processes with Oracle® Fusion Middleware 11g
Oracle JDeveloper, Oracle Application Development Framework, Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle SOA Suite Support Development of Rich Internet Applications
Redwood Shores, CA – August 24, 2009
Collect America, a leading provider of asset management services and financial products, is using Oracle® Fusion Middleware 11g, the foundation for innovation, to deliver a more agile and scalable Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform. This platform supports the development of Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) for a network of franchise customers that manage the bankruptcy process in the debt purchasing and collections industry.
Collect America's business has rapidly expanded through the pursuit of new markets. To support this growth, the IT staff determined that a more agile infrastructure and improved efficiencies were required. To help design and implement the new platform, Collect America collaborated with Oracle and ECS Team.
With Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, Collect America has been able to reduce development time for several hundred applications and services that support automated and human workflow activities designed to manage the lifecycle of its assets. This has allowed the company to maximize liquidation rates and minimize costs, while speeding the delivery of IT projects to business users by 30 percent.
The productivity gains found with Oracle's Java development tools have improved the predictability of future projects costs, time and resources, bringing substantial efficiencies to Collect America.
The business benefits realized with the new platform include the ability to support new markets, grow revenue and provide improved forecasting for better business intelligence. The new architecture also enables Collect America to rapidly adapt to new business needs and easily scale with business growth.
Collect America has long been an industry leader in adopting new technology to help differentiate their business. With the delivery of its Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g architecture, Collect America expects to continue outpacing its competition through reduced IT costs and faster time-to-market on innovative enhancements.
Collect America also intends to deploy Oracle Universal Content Management in future development efforts.
Oracle JDeveloper 11g and Oracle ADF 11g Unite Rich Internet Applications and SOA
A key component of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, Oracle JDeveloper is a complete Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for SOA and Java development, "hot-pluggable" with Oracle and non-Oracle environments. While Oracle JDeveloper supports all major Java EE application servers and databases, performance is optimized for Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Database.
Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) is a standards-based, end-to-end Java EE framework that simplifies development by providing out-of-the-box infrastructure services and a visual and declarative development experience. Oracle ADF Faces Components provide over a 130 AJAX and Flash-based JSF components for developing rich user interfaces for Java EE applications and includes framework features needed by Java Server Faces (JSF) developers. These out-of-the-box widgets support the delivery of a dynamic and intuitive user interface that can present a responsive, consolidated view of several disparate data sources.
Together, Oracle JDeveloper 11g and Oracle ADF 11g enabled Collect America to build RIAs with advanced graphical capabilities for entering and analyzing data, bringing a responsive, interactive and dynamic interface to the applications supporting their business and franchise customers.
“Oracle JDeveloper 11g and Oracle ADF 11g provide developers with an easy-to-use, highly productive development environment while also delivering outstanding performance and scalability,” said Ted Farrell, chief architect and senior vice president, Tools and Middleware, Oracle. “Collect America's implementation is an excellent example of the innovative RIAs that can be designed with Oracle Fusion Middleware's Java development tools."
“Oracle Fusion Middleware provided a significant development savings through its out-of-the-box integration features and development tools,” said Jennifer Briscoe, chief technology officer and vice president, Collect America. “The rapid development environment has allowed us to lower our overall cost of development while continuing to remain agile as business needs change.”
“Oracle offers the industry’s most comprehensive and integrated set of Java development tools to help enterprise application developers streamline the development process. Teaming with Oracle, we were able to help Collect America design a strategic, agile technology architecture that has delivered significant productivity gains,” said Kurt Kellner, Principal Technical Architect, ECS Team.
