Customers from a broad range of industries including Betfair, Grupo Elektra, MorphoTrak -SAFRAN Group, Postbank Systems AG, and XIUS-bcgi – a division of Megasoft, were amongst the dozens of organizations that evaluated and revealed their findings from beta testing Oracle® Database 11g Release 2.
Available and downloadable today, Oracle Database 11g Release 2 introduces innovations in grid computing, storage management, scalability and performance, database administration, and more, enabling customers to efficiently manage their enterprise information and achieve a higher quality of service at a lower cost. "Betfair operates a truly 24/7 global business where minutes of downtime can have extremely high costs. Until now certain database upgrades have been almost impossible to perform online. Our testing as part of the Oracle Database 11g Release 2 beta program has demonstrated that Edition Based Redefinition provides the tools we've been waiting for to maximize uptime during our software upgrades. We look forward to using it in production," said Alex De Vergori, Database Architect, Betfair.
"Oracle Database 11g Release 2 along with Oracle Active Data Guard allows MorphoTrak's customers to realize most of the benefits of replication without the added complexity, resulting in rapid time to market of new applications and simpler management of deployed systems; ideal for our mission-critical customers who demand 24 by 7 availability,” said Aris Prassinos, Distinguished Member of Technical Staff, MorphoTrak, SAFRAN Group.
“Postbank uses Oracle Real Application Clusters and Automatic Storage Management,” said Jens-Christian Pokolm, Analyst IT, Postbank Systems AG. “The most interesting capabilities in Oracle Database 11g Release 2 include using Automatic Storage Management for all our files and the Oracle Real Application Clusters enhancements that will help us provide an even higher quality of service to our users.”
“As a Telecom Solution Provider, we can now guarantee and provide unmatched availability to our customers using a combination of Oracle Database 11g Release 2 features such as zero downtime patching for Oracle Real Application Clusters and automated fast failover of applications with Data Guard,” said Kevin Bresnahan, EVP Engineering & Operations, XIUS-bcgi – a division of Megasoft.
"Everyone associated with Oracle's technology universe will be excited with the general availability of Oracle Database 11g Release 2,” said Ian Abramson, president of the Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG). “The IOUG was an active participant in the Release 2 beta program, and we look forward to our early adopters sharing their experiences with other customers at Oracle OpenWorld and other User Group events."
