San Diego Unified School District Selects Oracle to Transform Internal Financial Controls and Processes
Oracle Insight Helps School District Analyze Existing Systems and Identify Critical Needs

San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD), the second largest district in California, and eighth largest urban district in the United States, worked with the
Oracle Insight Program to complete an assessment of its IT systems and infrastructure, which led the school district to select a series of Oracle® business intelligence and supply chain applications to meet its needs for increased financial controls and streamlined procurement processes.
Through Oracle Insight, SDUSD was able to work closely with Oracle business and IT strategy experts to identify its key objectives and understand how technology can help address its challenges. The Insight program analyzed SDUSD’s existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, as well as its IT infrastructure and governance structure, and developed a pragmatic and thoughtful roadmap for implementation.
With OBIEE and Oracle BI Applications, the district hopes to establish a better ERP process, as well as improve visibility and access to key data (i.e. student metrics related to attendance and enrollment) for better management and executive level decision-making. Further, with its PeopleSoft Enterprise applications, the district plans to centralize procurement and add advanced procurement capabilities, ultimately reducing spending on goods and services, streamlining procure-to-pay processes and driving policy compliance.
