Oracle Announces First Comprehensive Approach to Enterprise Application Documents

Oracle® Content Management’s Integration with Oracle Applications Makes Business Documents More Manageable and Easily Accessible

To help accelerate business processes constrained by critical information tied up in paper forms and electronic documents and to enrich sales and support processes limited by poor visibility to relevant customer and product documentation, Oracle today announced the industry’s first comprehensive approach to managing Enterprise Application Documents.
Oracle’s Enterprise Application Documents approach is enabled by the tight integration between Oracle® Content Management products, part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware product family, and Oracle Applications. With this integration, Oracle is providing its Applications’ customers with a comprehensive set of content management services that makes all paper-based and electronic documents -- including invoices, HR forms, product specifications and customer contracts -- directly visible, searchable and manageable from within Oracle Applications.
Integrated management of Enterprise Application Documents is available today through adapters for Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite that are certified for the Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise, Oracle’s Siebel CRM and Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. These flexible application adapters preserve the integration with enterprise applications during application upgrades, reducing the cost of upgrades and their potential for disruption.
Because Oracle is the only company that uses a common technology platform (based on Oracle Fusion Middleware products and Oracle Database 11g) to deliver both industry leading enterprise applications and best-of-breed content management, it is uniquely capable of providing a secure and scalable infrastructure for the complete end-to-end processing of all Enterprise Application Documents within transactional ERP applications, sales and service oriented CRM applications and custom applications.

A New Approach

Oracle’s Enterprise Application Documents approach helps customers accelerate processing paper and electronic documents, reduce errors and costs associated with manual processing and improve accessibility and usefulness of documents containing business-critical information. Oracle Content Management enables end-to-end processing of these documents through its document capture, records management and retention and enterprise search capabilities.
Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite enables customers to upgrade their isolated and inefficient image and document storage systems to a unified, scalable and secure repository built on Oracle Database 11g.
Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite, which runs on Oracle SOA Suite technology, manages Enterprise Application Documents using open standards like BPEL and allows these documents to be quickly integrated into custom business processes. This also means customers can use Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) systems, such as the one in Oracle SOA Suite, to monitor processes and Enterprise Application Documents through real-time dashboards.
