Oracle Extends Commitment to Java and Open Source Developer Communities
Rapid Adoption and Deployments with Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Showcase Developer Productivity
Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif. – Oct. 12, 2009
Providing continued proof that Oracle is the platform of choice for Java developers, Oracle today announced developers are rapidly adopting Oracle Application Development Framework (Oracle ADF) 11g, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware. Within the past year, more than 44 percent of Oracle Application Development Framework users have upgraded to Oracle ADF 11g from older releases.
Of the customers using Oracle ADF 11g, over 30 have already gone production with their Oracle ADF 11g-based applications, demonstrating the productivity developers can achieve with Oracle’s Java development tools.
Further collaborating with the open source development community, Oracle has contributed new intellectual property to the Eclipse community and delivered an update to Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) 11g.
Oracle has also established a new global code-sharing community portal, samplecode.oracle.com.
These new offerings are the latest in Oracle’s long history of fostering development communities and providing a complete, open, integrated set of development tools that enhance developer productivity and innovation.
Oracle continues to invest significant resources in developing, testing and optimizing Java and open source technologies and facilitating interaction and continued learning amongst the global development community, through leading online resources like the Oracle Technology Network.
Java Developers Benefit from Latest Release of Oracle ADF
An end-to-end meta-framework for the Java EE platform, Oracle ADF enables developers to build rich enterprise applications.
In addition to providing robust, performant, and maintainable applications, Oracle ADF also provides the best of breed infrastructure code to implement agile Java EE and SOA-based applications.
Oracle ADF simplifies Java EE development by minimizing the need to write code that implements the application’s infrastructure allowing the user to focus on the features of the their application.
Oracle ADF provides a choice of development approaches, technologies used, and deployment platform. Combining the advanced architecture of Oracle ADF with the visual development environment of Oracle JDeveloper 11g provides a complete, open, integrated solution for both novice and experienced developers looking to be more productive when developing Java applications.
The latest release of Oracle ADF also features new user interface components, an all-new look-and-feel for ADF Faces components, debugger improvements and new animations for graphics and user interface components.

Oracle Technology Network Powers Collaborative Code Sharing Community for Developers
Further enabling developers to enhance productivity and share resources, Oracle has introduced samplecode.oracle.com, a free code-sharing community for developers and users of Oracle products and technologies.
Samplecode.oracle.com serves as a dynamic repository for sample application source code, code snippets, templates, and skins.
Powered by Oracle Technology Network and CollabNet, samplecode.oracle.com extends the capabilities of the most popular source control repository today, Subversion, and allows developers to easily upload completed sample code, as well as collaborate with Oracle Technology Network members to author new projects.
Oracle Technology Network is a leading online resource, providing millions of Java developers a source for continual learning and active engagement with colleagues, peers and the community through an array of Enterprise 2.0 technologies, events and resources.
“Oracle remains dedicated to supporting the global developer community through the extensive testing, delivery, and optimization of the open-standards and open-source tools developers rely on most,” said Ted Farrell, Oracle Tools and Middleware Chief Architect and Senior Vice President. “In addition to delivering leading development tools and technology, Oracle continues to invest in the community by offering continued opportunities to learn, grow and collaborate with Oracle and fellow developers around the globe.
