Gruppo Coin Selects Oracle® Retail Fashion Planning Solutions to Support its Growth Strategy

Italian Retailer Seeks to Enhance Product Lifecycle Management and Assortment Strategies with Oracle Retail Fashion Planning Suite

Gruppo Coin, the leader in Italian apparel retail, has selected Oracle Retail’s Fashion Planning solution suite to help support its aggressive global expansion strategy by providing the opportunity to create compelling assortment strategies and react more rapidly to evolving customer preferences.
Gruppo Coin operates two distinct retail brands, apparel retailer OVS industry and luxury department store chain Coin, and has recently added the Young Village brand to extend its retail offering. The Group is both a distributor of luxury brands and a manufacturer of its own collections, stocking accessories, health products and home decorations, in addition to its core apparel business.
The Group operates 393 stores in Italy and over the last couple of years has extended its franchise business abroad. It now operates 48 international stores located primarily across Eastern Europe and the Middle East and will be opening 190 stores in India over the next five years.
With a growing need to support this expansion and adopt a more ‘fast fashion’ business model, Gruppo Coin wanted to more effectively analyse customer behaviour and create more localised assortment planning, perform attribute-based store clustering and execute strategies to more closely match supply to demand.
Building on Oracle Retail Release 13 announced last year, Oracle Retail’s Fashion Planning solution suite supports end-to-end management of short lifecycle products: from pre-season planning of sales, margin and inventory investments to in-season management and clearance of merchandise.
This is expected to help Gruppo Coin to holistically manage their assortments in a fully integrated workflow that extends through the entire merchandising lifecycle, from high-level business objectives to detailed assortment execution at SKU and store level.
The first phase of implementation involving Oracle Retail Merchandise Financial Planning is expected shortly, providing Gruppo Coin with the capabilities to create and reconcile top-down and bottom-up planning throughout its organisation.
