Oracle Positioned in Leaders Quadrant in All Three Magic Quadrants Related to Application Infrastructure
Redwood Shores, Calif. – July 31, 2012
Oracle is positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in each of three Gartner Magic Quadrants focused on application infrastructure. The Magic Quadrants are: Application Infrastructure for Systematic Application Integration Projects (1); Application Infrastructure for Systematic SOA Infrastructure Projects (2); and Application Infrastructure for Systematic SOA Application Projects (3).
Gartner’s Magic Quadrant reports position vendors within a particular quadrant based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute.

Part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware family of products, Oracle SOA Suite simplifies application integration and connectivity by providing a unified experience to integrate across cloud, on-premise, and business-to-business.
Gartner states in the Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for Systematic Application Integration Projects that “To succeed in the modern business computing environment, organizations must have the flexibility to experiment and innovate, while preserving the overall integrity and quality of service of their core systems.”
According to Gartner, “Leaders in the application infrastructure for Gartner's systematic application integration projects are vendors with a proven, comprehensive and integrated set of products that addresses A2A, B2B and cloud-to-on-premises integration projects. They have an ample installed base of products to cross-sell their integration solutions, and have demonstrated their ability to anticipate technology and market trends over the years by extending their offerings to support the data consistency, multistep process and composite application integration styles that occur in systematic integration projects. They have a sizable installed base of reasonably satisfied clients that extends internationally.”

The unified platform of Oracle SOA Suite features a number of components optimized to support SOA infrastructure projects, including the enterprise-grade Oracle Service Bus as the foundation for shared services; Oracle BPEL Process Manager for creating, deploying, and managing cross-application process orchestration; and Oracle SOA Governance to help reduce risk, maintain business alignment, and show the business value of SOA investments.
Gartner states in the Magic Quadrant for Application Infrastructure for Systematic SOA Infrastructure Projects that “the process of defining the SOA infrastructure architecture, selecting, integrating, implementing and deploying suitable products is a key enabling project in most large-scale SOA initiatives, and must be pursued with systematic rigor.”
According to Gartner, “Leaders in this market are vendors able to provide mature ESB capabilities, a range of proven orchestration options and a comprehensive set of SOA governance technologies. These vendors' products have been widely adopted across verticals and geographies, as individual items and in combination, to support large and business-critical SOA infrastructure deployment projects. The installed base of these vendors is on the order of multiple hundreds of users that have adopted the full spectrum of their SOA infrastructure technologies, and in the thousands (at least 3,000) for the more-popular individual components (typically, the ESB products).”

Oracle SOA Suite is the foundation technology for Oracle Application Integration Architecture, Oracle's solution for delivering rapid application integrations. Oracle SOA Suite is tightly integrated with Oracle WebCenter, the engagement platform powering exceptional experiences for customers, employees and partners; and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, hardware and software engineered together to provide extreme performance, reliability and scalability for Oracle, Java and other business applications, while helping to deliver lower TCO, reduced risk, higher user productivity and one-stop support.
Gartner states that “This Magic Quadrant addresses the requirements of projects that take a systematic approach to building a service-oriented architecture (SOA)-style application — i.e., an application that uses SOA-style services to modularize its business logic and to integrate new software with existing programs and data.”
According to Gartner, “Leaders combine an insightful understanding of the realities of the market, a reliable record, the ability to influence the market's direction, the capability to attract and keep a following, and the capacity to lead. A Leader has the proven ability to deliver on its vision and to support its customers through periods of stability, as well as periods of change. Leaders control most of the market's business activity, and are the primary influencers of market evolution.”
“To create and run agile, intelligent business applications while also maximizing IT efficiency, organizations need a flexible, scalable and feature-rich business platform that can support innovation in the enterprise and the cloud,” said Hasan Rizvi, senior vice president, Oracle Fusion Middleware and Java products, Oracle. “Oracle Fusion Middleware provides a comprehensive, open, and integrated offering across social, mobile, and cloud technologies. We believe Oracle’s placement in Gartner’s application infrastructure Magic Quadrants is a testament to that unique position and the continued investment we are making in innovation across our best-of-breed suite of middleware products.”
