To lower costs associated with its physical infrastructure, and help ensure that its datacenters run in the most environmentally-sustainable and efficient manner possible, IT Convergence employed Oracle VM 2.2, Oracle Linux and a blade server-based architecture.
Using Oracle VM server virtualization, IT Convergence consolidated the number of servers it uses to support its global client base by more than 70 percent and maintain the performance of its applications and systems.
By consolidating its physical IT infrastructure, IT Convergence cut power consumption costs by 11 percent and reduced recurring space costs by seven percent.
Through its use of Oracle VM Templates, IT Convergence achieved faster time to market for its applications; nearly eliminated software installation and configuration costs; and reduced ongoing maintenance costs.
Oracle VM Templates also provided IT Convergence with an innovative approach to rapidly deploying new applications and services by offering pre-installed and pre-configured software images that reduced application deployment time from weeks or months to hours or days.
Oracle VM helped IT Convergence ensure business continuity throughout the project by minimizing downtime and impact on the performance of its existing applications.
"As a premier global provider of Oracle enterprise solutions, we are focused on helping our customers maximize their IT investments and resources,” said Gustavo Gonzalez, director, IT Convergence. “To support our mission, it was critical that our own IT infrastructure was built to quickly deliver on ever-changing application requirements, in an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective manner. With Oracle Virtualization products, we created an innovative, highly flexible and efficient IT infrastructure that can support our customers and future growth.”
