Oracle Unveils First Development Milestone Release of MySQL Cluster 7.3

Oracle today announced the first Development Milestone Release (DMR) of MySQL Cluster 7.3.
Announced at Oracle’s first ever MySQL Connect Conference, the MySQL Cluster 7.3 DMR introduces native support for Foreign Keys.
Oracle is also delivering early access to features under development including a new Node.js NoSQL API and a new MySQL Cluster Auto-Installer. These are available to the MySQL community for testing and feedback through
MySQL Cluster is an open source, write-scalable, real-time, ACID-compliant transactional database for new generation web, cloud, social and mobile applications.

New Features for the MySQL Community

Foreign Key support: enables users to extend the benefits of MySQL Cluster into a broader range of packaged applications and custom deployments by simplifying data models and application logic. Users can benefit from advanced RDBMS features for applications requiring the read/write scalability, real-time performance and high availability provided by MySQL Cluster, in addition to NoSQL access and auto-sharding.

A New Node.js NoSQL API for MySQL Cluster: provides Node.js with a native, asynchronous JavaScript interface that can be used to both query and receive results sets directly from MySQL Cluster, without transformations to SQL, ensuring low latency for simple queries. This new API allows for rapid development cycles and faster time to market as developers can use JavaScript to access a highly scalable, persistent, real time database. JavaScript with Node.js joins a growing portfolio of NoSQL APIs for MySQL Cluster, which already includes Memcached, Java, JPA and HTTP/REST, enabling NoSQL and SQL access to the same data set.
MySQL Cluster Auto-Installer: provides standardized configurations that make it quick and easy to build reliable high performance clustered environments. Compatible with both MySQL Cluster 7.2 and 7.3, the auto-installer intelligently configures MySQL Cluster based on application requirements and available hardware resources:
Workload Optimized: On launching the browser-based installer, users can specify the throughput, latency and write-load characteristics of their application.
Auto-Discovery: The Installer automatically discovers the underlying resources available from the local and remote servers that will make up the Cluster, including CPU architecture, cores and memory.
