To meet the growing data demands of its dynamic customer base, Epsilon is using Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Enterprise Manager to power its data warehouse system.
Epsilon offers a broad array of data-driven, multichannel marketing solutions to customers, including strategic consulting, marketing analytics, e-mail marketing technology, direct and digital marketing services, and a host of creative services.
As part of its service portfolio, Epsilon manages customer loyalty programs for its clients that generate massive amounts of data and require high-performance transaction processing, tracking, configuring, logging, and campaign execution capabilities.
With its information systems experiencing 40 percent data growth year-over-year and an increased demand for real-time reporting, Epsilon needed a data infrastructure that could scale to meet expanding data and customer demands.
Epsilon selected Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Enterprise Manager to enable extreme processing and comprehensive management to help to meet customers’ real-time data requirements and service level agreements.
With Oracle Exadata, running Oracle Linux, Epsilon is achieving transactional processing speeds that were previously not attainable and has transformed its business to deliver new value-added services.
In addition, Oracle Enterprise Manager provides system administrators a single, management interface for Epsilon’s entire Oracle-based infrastructure and allows them to manage and help ensure “always-on” availability for critical customer systems.
With Oracle Enterprise Manager, systems administrators have been able to significantly increase efficiency and productivity and IT staff has been freed to focus on tasks that are a priority for their customers and business.
With Oracle Exadata and Oracle Enterprise Manager, Epsilon has been able to drop transaction times dramatically and provide enhanced services. For its retail customers, this new processing power means loyalty program rewards can be tracked directly at the point of sale and customers’ savings can be identified instantly.
Additionally, at Oracle OpenWorld San Francisco 2012, Jeff White, vice president, technology, strategic database services at Epsilon was recognized as Data Warehouse Leader of the Year for North America.
White and his team at Epsilon are responsible for the company’s data warehouse system, which included this migration to Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
The award, one of several categories covered by the Oracle Excellence Awards, honors individuals who demonstrate excellent technical knowledge and innovative use of Oracle data warehouse technologies to the benefit of their business.
