Schneider National Improves Security, Reduces Cost with Oracle Identity Management
Global Provider of Transportation and Logistics Services Standardizes on Oracle to Streamline Identity Management and Ensure Compliance
Redwood Shores, Calif. – January 31, 2011
Oracle today announced that Schneider National, a leader in transportation and logistics services, has standardized on Oracle Identity Management to streamline its identity management initiatives and enforce sustainable compliance reporting processes.
Prior to Oracle, Schneider National had both home grown and multi-vendor identity management solutions, which were difficult and costly to administer.
With the implementation of Oracle Identity Management, the company has been able to automate key processes, reduce manual administrative tasks, close critical security gaps and improve user productivity by granting employees access to the right information, at the right time.
Schneider National was recently named a winner of the 2010 Oracle Fusion Middleware Innovation Awards for Oracle Identity Management.
Enhanced Security with Less Administration and Cost
The tight integration between components in Oracle Identity Management’s suite of solutions, including access control, access governance and directory services, enabled Schneider National to accelerate deployments, improve user experiences and lower the total cost of ownership for its Identity Management initiatives. Solutions include:
Oracle Identity Federation allows Schneider National to seamlessly connect and securely share identities across vendors, saving the company, in one case, thousands of dollars in postage previously spent mailing benefit forms between companies.
Oracle Access Manager, featuring single sign-on, allows the company to realize significant savings through a reduction in password reset calls to the helpdesk. Additionally, it enabled customers to check transit information of their products on Schneider’s system through easy-to-use self service capabilities.
Oracle Identity Manager reduces IT tasks from weeks down to days with automated user administration, and streamlined compliance reporting.
Oracle Virtual Directory provides a centralized view of identity data across directories and systems, providing Schneider National a holistic, enterprise-wide view of its security initiatives.
“Though we had several in-house and vendor Identity Management solutions in place over the past 10 years, we were unable to achieve the level of results we have attained with Oracle Identity Management,” said Judy Lemke, CIO of Schneider National. “The tight integration between Oracle solutions and connections to both Oracle and third-party applications ensures the right users have access to the right information – all while saving valuable time and money in implementations and administration. With Oracle Identity Management we have successfully standardized on a common security and compliance reporting platform that has scaled to accommodate nearly double the original infrastructure and are still able to manage it with the same number of administrative staff.”
