By consolidating five disparate legacy systems onto a single integrated platform, Amedisys is streamlining the flow of information across its enterprise – which includes 17,000 employees and more than 577 care centers – and is positioned to reduce IT overhead and administrative costs.
The integrated solution has eliminated the need to re-enter information into various siloed systems, enabling Amedisys to focus staff on strategic priorities.
The new system also provides the scalability needed to support the company’s rapid growth driven by numerous strategic acquisitions.
PeopleSoft Time and Labor enables Amedisys to support flexible work schedules for its caregivers and meet the complex payroll requirements associated with this business model, including the ability to pay nurses per patient visit.
Expanded self-service capabilities provide greater employee convenience by enabling them to enter time and expenses, and manage personal information via a portal, helping reduce the administrative requirements of the HR team.
Amedisys has achieved end-to-end integration of its supply chain with PeopleSoft SCM applications. By integrating PeopleSoft SCM and Amedisys’ proprietary applications, it is optimizing the purchase of critical supplies and ensuring that they are onsite when and where they are needed for care delivery and continuity of business operations.
PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management has expanded Amedisys’ visibility into financial data from the center-level to the enterprise level.
Amedisys worked with Oracle Consulting and PricewaterhouseCoopers to complete the implementation on time and under budget in just 9 months, taking all modules live on the same day.
“To support our rapidly growing organization and deliver efficient and effective care to patients, we require visibility across our organization as well as business tools that enable improved productivity,” said G. Patrick Thompson, Jr., executive vice president of administration and chief information officer, Amedisys. “Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 has enabled us to create an integrated enterprise resource planning platform that delivers on both of these requirements.”
“Now more than ever, healthcare organizations are focused on lowering costs while improving the delivery of patient care. Effective resource utilization and management – from an enterprise level down to a single facility – is essential,” said Marc Perlman, global vice president, Health Care and Life Sciences, Oracle. “Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 applications enable healthcare organizations, like Amedisys, to gain the transparency required to drive operational improvements across their enterprises, from optimizing supply chains to seamlessly managing a large, and often complex, workforce.”
