With Oracle Business Intelligence, Hologic consolidated disparate business intelligence (BI) systems under a common infrastructure and produced custom dashboards and reports quickly to supply critical intelligence to stakeholders across applications and business functions.
A Unified Platform for Enterprise-Wide Intelligence
Based in Bedford, Mass., Hologic, Inc. is a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of premium diagnostics products, medical imaging systems and surgical products dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of women. Hologic's core business units are focused on breast health, diagnostics, GYN surgical, and skeletal health.
Following a number of acquisitions, Hologic was left with multiple legacy BI systems that prevented it from achieving a single, accurate view of the truth.
As the company grew, it became essential to standardize on one platform and method of reporting to gain end-to-end intelligence across sales, manufacturing, finance and other critical business functions.
Built on a unified infrastructure, Oracle Business Intelligence has enabled Hologic to pull information across data sources and applications. Initially, Hologic rolled out its Oracle BI system across its sales operations, and has since implemented it across several additional areas of the business.
Oracle Sales Analytics help Hologic to improve the effectiveness of its sales team by providing real-time, actionable insight into every sales opportunity at the point of customer contact. Oracle Sales Analytics is pre-integrated with Oracle’s Siebel CRM.
Most recently, Hologic deployed Oracle Human Resources Analytics to provide human resources professionals and front-line managers with intelligence that enables them to better analyze workforce staffing and productivity levels in addition to helping to attract and retain top people.
The company is also using its Oracle BI system to gain better insight into its service business, a significant revenue generator for the company, and using that intelligence to determine how they can improve service offerings, contract profitability, and pricing to maximize business results.
In all, the company has reduced manual reporting efforts significantly, and now provides key stakeholders with critical information at the point and time of need by capitalizing on the packaged analytics and customizable dashboards of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
Moving forward, Hologic plans to provide more “self-service” BI access to users to further improve business visibility and provide actionable intelligence across business operations as well as lessen dependence on IT resources.
“Oracle is more than just a technology provider to Hologic – we view them as a true partner that is invested in the success of our business. They understand our goals and priorities and have been instrumental in helping us leverage the power of technology to achieve those goals,” said David Rudzinsky, SVP, Information Services and CIO, Hologic, Inc. “With our commitment to Oracle Applications, leveraging Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and Oracle BI Applications to improve intelligence across our business was a simple choice. It seamlessly integrates with our applications and provides a common foundation under which we can create and distribute the reports and dashboards we need to provide actionable insight to key stakeholders so they can make better, more informed business decisions.”
