The University of Western Ontario Selects Oracle’s Primavera Enterprise Project Portfolio Management and Oracle’s AutoVue to Support Major Campus Engineering & Construction Portfolio

Project Portfolio Management and Visualization Solutions Combined with Existing Oracle Technology and Applications Help Streamline Business Processes and Enhance Collaboration

ORACLE OPENWORLD, SAN FRANCISCO – Oct. 4, 2011

News Facts

To support its mission of providing the best student experience among Canada's leading research-intensive universities, The University of Western Ontario selected Oracle's Primavera Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) solutions and Oracle’s AutoVue 20.1 to help plan, build and operate its broad portfolio of campus assets.
With more than 300 capital projects each year that include new buildings, enhancements and additions to its 93 existing buildings and 8.5 million square foot campus, The University of Western Ontario recognized the opportunity to build on its Oracle’s PeopleSoft investments to help optimize facility design and construction processes.
By leveraging the complete Oracle Engineering & Construction solution set, the university will be able to support its aggressive sustainability and green initiative directives that target a minimum of Silver LEED certification on all renovation and construction programs and projects.
Oracle’s Primavera P6 EPPM will enable The University of Western Ontario to standardize, centralize and automate previously manual processes and access the real-time information needed to mitigate risks and make informed decisions when prioritizing, planning, building and operating campus assets.
To help further reduce project risk and identify synergies internally as well as with contractors and suppliers, The University of Western Ontario selected Oracle’s Primavera Contract Management to unify all construction-related collaboration and field documentation, increase business transparency and help create an environment where accountability drives performance.
Extending its engineering & construction documentation capabilities, the university implemented Oracle’s AutoVue to help increase the accessibility, annotation and mark-up of all digital information assets across the university’s plan, build or operate lifecycle phases. AutoVue is tightly integrated to Oracle’s Primavera solutions, which helps provide increased visibility into in-context visual project information and accelerate project delivery.
Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) platinum partner SAR Associates worked with The University of Western Ontario to complete the implementation on time and on budget.

Integrated Technology Stack Helps Reduce Complexity, Lower Costs and Optimize Performance

By integrating Oracle's Primavera EPPM products and Oracle’s AutoVue with its existing Oracle technology stack, the University of Western Ontario will benefit from a complete Facility Design & Construction solution that delivers optimum functionality, top performance and reduced complexity.
The integrated applications include Oracle’s PeopleSoft Financials, Oracle’s PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) and Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions to address its broader business requirements. The University of Western Ontario is leveraging Oracle’s direct integration of PeopleSoft Projects and Primavera P6 EPPM.
Supported by Oracle Database 11g and Oracle’s SPARC T-series servers, The University of Western Ontario’s Oracle applications are able to deliver enhanced scalability, reliability and manageability.
By leveraging Oracle’s hardware and software products, The University of Western Ontario expects to remove integration challenges, lower the cost per traction and reduce training requirements.
