Roger Bamford

ORACLE EXECUTIVE BIOGRAPHY

Roger Bamford is one of the founding members of Oracle's database team and has been with Oracle since 1984. He was the lead for Oracle's relational database management system version 6 and is known as the founding father of Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle's grid products.

Bamford currently heads the Advanced Research and Development team focused on distributed and parallel computing. He also focuses on bringing data management closer to business end-users. In his current role, Bamford provides overall architectural leadership to the flagship database product, including XML, XQuery, and event processing technologies.

Throughout his career, Bamford has been responsible for many of the key innovations in relational database management systems. He has more than 40 patents on databases, and has presented and has been published in numerous international conferences.

Prior to joining Oracle, Bamford worked at IBM Research. He holds a BS in computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MS in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
