Robert Shimp is group vice president of Product Marketing for Oracle. His organization is responsible for product marketing, competitive intelligence, and market research for Oracle, including applications, middleware, databases, systems, and other products.
Mr. Shimp is heavily involved in go-to-market planning for new products, as well as setting strategy and go-to-market for broad initiatives such as cloud computing, IT consolidation, modernization, and more. He has over 25 years of deep expertise in enterprise software and hardware; marketing and sales operations; and business planning. Prior to joining Oracle, Mr. Shimp was involved with the development, introduction, and marketing of well-known products including Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX operating system and MIPS computers.
Mr. Shimp holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
