Robert Shimp is group vice president of Oracle's Technology Business Group, responsible for global platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) go-to-market strategy and implementation. His organization is responsible for global marketing, market development, and sales support for Oracle PaaS and IaaS services and solutions, including Oracle Database Cloud Service, Java cloud service, integration, analytics, and more.
Shimp is heavily involved in go-to-market planning for new products as well as setting the go-to-market strategy for broad initiatives such as cloud computing, big data, mobile, social, and the Internet of Things. He also works closely on IT planning with enterprise business leaders and is an Oracle executive sponsor to some of the largest corporations in the world.
Shimp has more than 30 years of experience in enterprise software and hardware, marketing and sales operations, and business planning. He has guided the launch of hundreds of products for Oracle over the years.
Shimp holds a BS in electrical engineering and engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds MBA and JD degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
