Enhancements across the platform include:

Oracle SOA Suite 11g: provides a single process platform – unifying system, human and document-centric processes and an Event Driven Architecture (EDA) with a complete range of SOA capabilities from development to security and governance. Oracle Platform Security Services (OPSS), a new layer for security services available through Oracle Fusion Middleware, delivers the industry’s first Service-Oriented Security foundation. As a comprehensive declarative security framework Oracle Platform Security Services allows developers to easily build security into their applications and deploy them into a centralized identity management framework.

Oracle Directory Services features a newly integrated administration console – Oracle Directory Services Manager – to manage and configure LDAP directories, virtual-directories and meta-directories from a single point. Following the success of its online Oracle Academy Instructors’ Institute, Oracle today launched the in-class component of the training program in Vienna, Austria. This training event will be held at BHAK10 High School in Vienna from June 29 – July 3, 2009.

The Institute will host over 100 teachers from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovakia.

The Oracle Academy Instructors’ Institute is an intensive professional development program that prepares faculty to teach the Oracle Academy’s technology and business curriculum. The curriculum focuses on database design and SQL programming skills.

By transparently encrypting application data using Oracle Advanced Security, customers can deploy quickly and implement greater data protection across their applications using efficient transparent encryption and decryption inside their Oracle Database.

Full Encryption for Sensitive Oracle Application Data

Oracle’s Transparent Data Encryption provides increased protection for application data stored in the database (tablespace), without requiring enterprises to know which fields contain sensitive or regulated data, helping reduce deployment time and effort.

It enables strong data privacy through the use of standards-based encryption algorithms such as Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES), as well as built-in key management with support for industry leading Hardware Security Modules.

Since Oracle’s Transparent Data Encryption automatically performs all cryptographic operations inside the Oracle Database, no costly and time consuming changes to existing applications are required.

A library of reusable, high-value Decision Patterns that illustrate how to take best advantage of the advanced predictive decision capabilities of the platform. Examples include how to best apply Batch Processing to improve cross-selling, and how to use Numerical Predictions to predict web site visit duration to improve e-commerce customer experience.

Platform Available Standalone, Integrated with Oracle Applications

A component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, the highly scalable Oracle Real-Time Decisions Platform is available as a standalone solution for integration with any variety of Oracle and non-Oracle IT environments and customer touch-points.

Oracle’s EPM System to Help Customers More Effectively and Efficiently Report Financial Statements in XBRL Format

To help publicly held companies facilitate the preparation, publishing and automatic exchange of financial statements in XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language), Oracle will embed UBmatrix, Inc.’s leading XBRL technology into Oracle's Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) System, Oracle announced today.

Building Upon Robust XBRL Reporting Capabilities

Specifically, organizations relying on components of Oracle’s EPM System such as Oracle’s Hyperion Financial Management for financial and statutory reporting will benefit from UBmatrix’s Taxonomy Designer, XBRL Processing Engine and Report Builder technology through the automation of XBRL statement processing helping to ensure regulatory compliance and streamline the filing process.

Oracle’s Hyperion performance management applications have long supported XBRL as a basic output format via Hyperion Financial Reporting. The UBmatrix technology will help to provide a much deeper level of XBRL functionality to organizations.

XBRL is fast becoming the standard for financial information exchange and reporting driven by the XBRL standardization programs being implemented by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), FDIC and the European Central Banks. Over 500 organizations in 27 countries are now participating in XBRL efforts.

According to XBRL.us, the SEC has mandated the use of XBRL for three reporting applications:

Public Company Reporting – all public companies must file in XBRL format; companies with worldwide public float greater than $5 billion to comply first starting with period ending June 2009; all other large accelerated filers to comply next starting with period ending June 2010; all other public companies comply with period ending June 2011;

Risk Return Summary portion of Mutual Fund Prospectus – mutual funds must begin publishing the risk return summary portion of their prospectuses in XBRL format starting January 1, 2011; and,

Credit rating agencies – must begin reporting all ratings actions (initial rating, upgrades, downgrades, etc.) in XBRL format starting in August 2009.

Oracle and UBmatrix are also working together to provide enterprise class storage and management for XBRL-based information in Oracle® Database 11g. Using Oracle Database’s XML DB feature, organizations can easily and quickly store, access and query their XBRL data.
