What did CIOs say last year about their upcoming 2012 priorities?
In a survey called Rethinking IT Strategy . . . Can It Enable a Step Change in Communication Service Provider Performance?, Oracle and global professional services firm PwC asked CIOs and CTOs from communications companies based in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa about plans for their organizations this year. And because the pressures of that industry are common to many sectors—decreasing product time to market, reducing IT complexity, and getting the most from shrinking budgets—Profit excerpted some of the findings as a snapshot of what is motivating IT executives in the year ahead. Topping the list: using IT to increase innovation, reduce expenses, and improve customer relations, as well as dramatically increasing IT outsourcing.
