When Oracle announced its first Excellence Awards for Oracle Fusion Middleware deployments in 2007, Markus Zirn, vice president of Oracle Fusion Middleware product management, discovered an interesting truth. Companies rarely achieve optimum implementation without help. “We learned that behind almost every customer is a good systems integrator,” he says.

That’s why the 2008 round of Oracle Excellence Awards included integrators who helped customers use Oracle Fusion Middleware to get the most out of their IT investments. Two of Oracle’s consulting partners—Innowave Technology and Business Intelligence Consulting Group—were recognized for systems integration excellence.

Innowave was an easy choice. The firm not only had two customers win Excellence Awards for 2007—Syntax-Brillian and Secure Path—but all four customer deployments Innowave submitted for the 2008 Excellence Awards were under consideration. Business Intelligence Consulting Group was selected for its work on the business intelligence (BI) front: the firm nominated five implementations of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition that it completed for Oracle Applications customers. Zirn says what sets Innowave and Business Intelligence Consulting Group apart from other firms is their ability to demonstrate the power of Oracle Fusion Middleware to catapult IT efficiency to new levels.

Among Innowave’s projects was assisting a large Southern California home builder to use Oracle Fusion Middleware to integrate multiple systems with the company’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne implementation. The company is already engaged with two new Oracle Fusion Middleware customers, including the City of Las Vegas, Nevada. Innowave CEO and founder Basheer Khan hopes that 2009 brings opportunities for the company to branch into new areas of the country. He knows that having an Oracle Excellence Award in its possession won’t hurt. That, along with the inherent value of Oracle Fusion Middleware, is a powerful combination, says Khan. “It’s very compelling to tell customers that leveraging the Oracle Fusion Middleware technology today paves the path to easily using Oracle Fusion Applications, which is the very same technology. That’s a powerful message for CIOs,” he says.
