Oracle’s Latest Storage Solutions Set New Records for Disk and Tape Performance and Customer Value
Oracle’s next-generation application engineered storage, Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance ZS3 Series, powered by a new cache architecture and multithreaded symmetric multiprocessing operating system, set new world records for throughput and response time, outperforming storage from NetApp, EMC, IBM, and HP while providing significantly better value. With ZFS Storage ZS3 Series, customers can run database queries and analytics faster, accelerating time to insight and business value.
ZSF Storage ZS3 Series takes advantage of the unique storage features available with Oracle Database 12c, including the new Intelligent Storage Protocol and heat-map-driven Automatic Data Optimization with Oracle Hybrid Columnar Compression. These features work together to automate storage tuning and data lifecycle management, resulting in 65 percent less manual storage administration and continuously optimized storage performance and efficiency.
Tape Innovations Boost Performance, Capacity, and Flexibility
The new StorageTek T10000D tape drive delivers industry-best capacity and performance levels, with up to 8.5 terabytes of capacity per cartridge and uncompressed data rates of 252 megabytes per second—more than 3x the data per cartridge and 57 percent faster than StorageTek LTO 6. When deployed in the StorageTek SL8500 tape library system, StorageTek T10000D tape drives enable customers to store more than 850 petabytes of uncompressed data in a single library and up to 68 exabytes under a single point of management.
StorageTek Linear Tape File System, Library Edition extends the open format benefits of linear tape file systems with a librarywide drag-and-drop user interface that enables users to move files between disk and tape without a backup or archive application. These StorageTek tape innovations enable customers to improve existing workflows in data-intensive industries, such as media and entertainment, healthcare, and oil and gas, and address brand-new markets such as deep archival services from cloud service providers.
