Oracle Business Analytics and Oracle Data Integration: The Complete Story

Increasingly, companies rely on business analytics tools for mission-critical decisions and planning. While today’s business analytics solutions are becoming more sophisticated in the areas of information discovery, real-time analytics, business-friendly reporting, and even big data support, many companies still use custom coding when it comes to integrating data—or even coupling to extract, transform, load (ETL) tools.

Modern business analytics solutions should include standards-based, automated, and reusable data integration solutions that can move and transform data in any latency across a range of systems. Whether they are implemented against finance, marketing, supply chain, or packaged business applications, or other tools, they need to interoperate with multiple planning systems, multidimensional databases (for online analytical processing), and big data sources and targets such as Hadoop and NoSQL. Finally, they need to integrate completely with full metadata management so that business users can trace visibility from report to source.

Oracle’s market-leading approach to analytics and data integration includes embedding key data integration fundamentals, such as the capabilities of Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle GoldenGate, within its core technology solutions. Examples of Oracle’s differentiated approach include

  • Oracle Business Analytics applications leverage the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition platform to deliver sets of predefined data integration patterns, dashboards, and analyses all built on a common, dimensional data model. These data integration elements include Oracle Data Integrator, which is embedded in Oracle Business Analytics applications.
  • Oracle Data Integrator is the strategic data integration option for loading Oracle Essbase databases and Oracle enterprise performance management (EPM) applications. It can also be used to load Oracle’s EPM applications, such as Oracle Hyperion Planning, through direct APIs via a set of code templates known as knowledge modules. This helps shorten development cycles and streamline processes.
  • Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle GoldenGate together with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition can facilitate real-time business intelligence/data warehouse implementations.
