Thousands of participants attended the live event, now available on replay. In the webcast, Oracle and industry speakers, including Vice President of Development for Oracle Cloud Application Foundation Cameron Purdy and Vice President of Development for Oracle Development Tools Chris Tonas, emphasize how the new release enables customers to deliver next-generation applications, such as mobile applications, with a mission-critical cloud environment. Extensive investment in native cloud management helps simplify operations, while for developers, the new release offers a modern development platform and integrated tools to increase productivity and accelerate time to market.
The three-hour event also highlights multiple Oracle Cloud Application Foundation customers and industry experts, such as Frank Munz, author of Oracle WebLogic Server 12c—Distinctive Recipes. Technical deep dives and demonstrations of the new releases kept the audience engaged, with hundreds of questions answered via live chat.
This release culminates years of work by Oracle engineering teams, who had direct input from customers on what capabilities they wanted from a trusted application platform. Highlights of the release include
- Oracle WebLogic Server dynamic clusters provide cloud elasticity. And deep integration with Oracle Database 12c, and convergence of the Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Coherence management framework drive operational efficiency.
- Oracle Coherence integration with Oracle GoldenGate enables real-time data cache updates with no programming necessary.
- Maven and WebSocket support is available across the platform for innovative application development.
- Oracle Enterprise Manager and developer tools—including Oracle JDeveloper 12c, Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 12c, and Oracle Application Development Framework for web and mobile development—support the new release.
IDC’s Al Hilwa told eWEEK, “It is one of the most integrated releases they have ever shipped in that there are several points of deep integration across the layers.”
