New Oracle Government Cloud Serves the Unique Needs of US Public Sector
Oracle recently announced that Oracle Government Cloud, a cloud resource designed for the unique requirements of public sector organizations in the US, is now available.
Tailored for the specific resource and security needs of US federal, state, and local agencies, Oracle Government Cloud consists of cloud services running in US-based data centers. Oracle is the process of receiving FedRAMP certification for security, authorizations, and continuous monitoring.
"Oracle Government Cloud is a natural and logical extension of Oracle's continued move into cloud-based solutions and services," says Patrick Mungovan, vice president, Oracle's North America public sector strategic programs. "We're responding to market requirements—including the US federal government's cloud-first policy—with a cloud that's designed specifically to enable agencies to meet these goals."
The solutions currently available in Oracle Government Cloud include Oracle Service Cloud for enhancing customer experience across the web, social networks, and contact centers, and the talent management platform Oracle Taleo Learn Cloud Service.
According to Oracle's implementation roadmap, additional Oracle application, platform, and infrastructure services are planned.
"Our mission is to continue to move these services into Oracle Government Cloud and create a community where all types of government agencies in the US will be in the cloud together with the proper security requirements," adds Aaron Erickson, director of Government Innovation, Oracle's North America public sector strategic programs.
"Oracle Government Cloud gives agency managers—both functional and technical—more choice in deployment models," Mungovan adds. "Some will maintain applications and platforms in-house, others will embrace services in the cloud, while others will choose a hybrid approach that combines cloud and on-premises solutions. Oracle Government Cloud enables agencies to move to the cloud at their own cadence and comfort level."
