Oracle has announced a preview of Oracle Developer Cloud Service, which gives development teams rapid access to turnkey development environments and comprehensive tools to manage the complete development lifecycle—plus all the advantages of cloud computing.
Oracle Developer Cloud Service is part of a major expansion of Oracle's cloud strategy that includes seven new Oracle Cloud services. As the broadest, most secure, and most reliable cloud provider in the industry, Oracle currently has 10,000 cloud customers, with more than 25 million users worldwide relying on these services daily.
Complete Developer Environments in Minutes
Oracle Developer Cloud Service provides complete development environments within minutes, including access to source repositories, issue tracking, builds, and more. Features include
- Project configuration and user management
- Source control repositories through Git, GitHub, and Maven
- An integrated tracking system for managing tasks, bugs, and enhancements
- Continuous build integration through Hudson
- Project documentation and collaboration through Wiki
Ease of Consumption and Deployment
Oracle Developer Cloud Service gives developers a wide choice in how they consume the service. It includes a complete Web interface for project management and creation. However, organizations can also rapidly integrate with other popular integrated development environments (IDEs) such as Oracle JDeveloper, Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, and NetBeans. IDE users can develop and commit code through Git integration tools, manage tasks and defects, monitor Hudson builds, check on project status through activity feeds, and more.
And to speed deployment, Oracle Developer Cloud Service provides tight integration with Oracle Java Cloud Service. Application build results from Hudson can be manually deployed to an Oracle Java Cloud Service instance or be configured for continuous deployment. It is also possible to deploy build results to an on-premise production environment.
“The cloud is a strategic business at Oracle and it is growing aggressively. Customers and partners are extremely supportive of Oracle’s cloud strategy, which is evident from the mission-critical workloads they are running on Oracle Cloud today,” said Abhay Parasnis, senior vice president of development, Oracle. “The breadth of opportunities available with Oracle Cloud already exceeds anything else available in the industry, and with the introduction of these new services, Oracle continues to innovate, shape the market, and define the future of cloud-based services.”
