Latest Release of Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine Ups the Ante on Extreme Performance

In October 2012, Oracle released enhanced analytics software optimized for Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine, the industry’s first high-speed engineered system featuring in-memory business intelligence (BI) software and hardware.

To expand the extreme performance of Oracle Exalytics and drive faster, better decision-making, the latest software release enhances customers’ ability to quickly access and leverage very large data assets in real-time—from information discovery to visual and mobile analytics, to enterprise planning and reporting.

Faster Visualizations, Enhanced Mobile Support
To help turn every user into an analyst, the latest release introduces powerful new interactive visualization capabilities.

“One of the key benefits of Oracle Exalytics is the new visualizations," explains said David Hellig, director, business intelligence, Savvis Communications. "Combined with the speed of Exalytics, we can look at data that, up until now, we’ve not had a chance to see. By leveraging the performance power of Oracle Exalytics, we can not only look at new, but also much larger, data sets.”

In addition, the latest release of Oracle Business Intelligence Mobile, optimized to run on Oracle Exalytics, enables organizations to deliver subsecond response times for thousands of mobile users across millions of rows of data.

“Part of our implementation plan for Exalytics is to roll out mobile BI to our salespeople, who want easy and fast access to all of their customers’ usage and transactional data on their mobile devices,” noted Ross Bensen, head of BI Architecture, Thomson Reuters.

New Certifications Support Faster Implementation, Extreme Performance
In addition to the latest software releases, Oracle also announced a series of other key certifications with Oracle Exalytics, including

  • Oracle Endeca Information Discovery. Oracle Endeca Information Discovery enables business users to easily explore diverse and unstructured information—such as social media, internal documents, or textual customer feedback such as product reviews—to find answers to questions that cannot easily be answered by traditional business intelligence systems.
  • Oracle GoldenGate’s real-time replication technology and Oracle Data Integrator. To provide greater flexibility to report on events as they happen, Oracle Exalytics data can now be updated incrementally and via replication.
  • Oracle Business Intelligence This new release delivers expanded mobility and intuitive visualization capabilities so users can quickly identify and analyze trends and take immediate action—anytime, anywhere.
  • Oracle Hyperion Planning. Oracle Hyperion Planning can now coexist with Oracle Essbase on Oracle Exalytics, driving significantly faster reads and writes—plus much higher user concurrency. The new certification also helps speed and streamline the adoption of planning best practices such as dynamic planning, rolling forecasts, and driver-based planning on more-detailed models.
