Real-Time Data Integration Moves to Next Level with Oracle GoldenGate 11g
Release 2

The recent introduction of Oracle GoldenGate 11g Release 2, Oracle’s real-time data integration software, promises to help with an increasingly vexing problem in the IT landscape: the need for continuous access to timely data across a variety of heterogeneous, high-throughput systems.

With the new release, customers benefit from increased integration with other Oracle technologies, including Oracle Database 11g, Oracle Exadata, and Oracle Enterprise Manager, to gain faster and more-reliable access to information across the enterprise. “Oracle GoldenGate 11g’s new release delivers deeper integration with Oracle technologies while expanding the support for heterogeneous systems and global implementations,” says Brad Adelberg, vice president of development, Oracle.

With the new release’s ability to directly integrate with Oracle Database’s engine, Oracle GoldenGate can take advantage of new Oracle Database features and functionality more quickly. One benefit of this deeper integration is that Oracle GoldenGate 11g Release 2 can now capture compressed data in addition to supporting more data types. “In the previous release, we didn't support tables with compression," notes Adelberg in a recent article in InformationWeek. "Now, even if a table is compressed, we can do change data capture off of that table."

Oracle GoldenGate 11g Release 2 also expands support for non-Oracle databases, including adding capture capabilities for IBM DB2 for i on iSeries and PostgreSQL. Expanding the commitment to enhancing support for international implementations, Oracle GoldenGate’s new release can now map and transform data from databases using multibyte/Unicode character sets.

A more intelligent conflict management feature enables customers to resolve data conflicts faster and easier by automating the process across multiple deployments. Conflict management is improved for all supported databases and platforms.

For more secure data movement across systems and regions, Oracle GoldenGate 11g Release 2 now offers support for the Federal Information Protection Standard (FIPS) in addition to the Blowfish encryption algorithms. Moreover, the new Oracle GoldenGate Monitor and plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager provide advanced monitoring and a consolidated view into Oracle GoldenGate 11g implementations.
