Cut the Costs of Linking Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Blackboard Learn

Oracle has partnered with the maker of one of the world’s leading learning management systems (LMS) to create a standard, out-of-the-box integration between the LMS and Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.

The Blackboard Learn platform is used by faculty and students at colleges and universities to manage coursework. In the past, IT departments had to create custom integrations to enable data sharing between that platform and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.

With the new standard integration, schools can easily share essential information, such as course enrollments, grades, and course completion status, across both PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Blackboard Learn. This integration helps reduce administrative overhead for IT departments and eliminates the cost associated with creating custom integration code.

This new integration also means that administrators can use class schedules and other student data to create courses in Blackboard Learn and help ensure students are correctly enrolled in classes.

Key business processes supported by the integration include
  • Creating or removing classes
  • Enrolling in or dropping classes
  • Adding or removing instructors from classes
  • Updating student, instructor, and class information
  • Exchanging final grades
Through an easy-to-use interface in the Blackboard Learn platform, school IT managers can configure, manage, and maintain system integrations that enable information to flow between the two systems. Additional benefits include easier deployments of new systems and reduced IT costs.

The new integration, which became available with Blackboard Learn’s release 9.1 service pack 6, earned an Oracle Validated Integration certification using the Student Administration Integration Pack, Oracle’s integration solution for PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. The integration capability is based on the IMS Global Learning Consortium’s Learning Information Services 2.0 standard.
