Project Portfolio Management Brings Greater Visibility and Cost Savings to Regional Airport Management Authority
A diverse portfolio of projects and the prospect of its largest capital project prompted the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA), a public entity that oversees operations at three airports and an inland port and foreign trade zone, to standardize business processes across capital project planning and execution. CRAA deployed Oracle’s Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management to ensure greater visibility into and control over project scheduling, costs, and cash flow.
The results have been remarkable. CRAA now benefits from a single, consolidated view into the organization’s capital projects and the ability to drill down into resource-loaded schedules and cash flow data. This enables it to take action earlier and avert the impact of emerging issues―including budget overages and project delays.

Today, the organization manages schedules and costs for all its capital projects by using Primavera to provide enterprisewide visibility. As a result, CRAA cut unbudgeted carryover costs from US$24.4 million in 2010 to US$3.5 million in 2011―an 88 percent improvement.
