Embry-Riddle Flies Higher with Real-Time Access to Information

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University recently implemented Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions in an effort to enhance student self-service capabilities, provide real-time access to critical information, and streamline administrative processes.

The project came about when the legacy student administration program could no longer meet the global needs of the largest accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace. Embry-Riddle serves 34,000 undergraduate and graduate students across the United States, Europe, Canada, Asia, and the Middle East.

In the past, problems arose during the cumbersome class-registration process, which required 25 steps and three logins to complete. In addition, university staff had to manually enter financial aid rewards into the system each year, taking significant administrative time and making it difficult for students to get the financial information they needed.

Now, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions streamlines the student accounting and financial aid process by providing real-time access to financial aid award information. This enables students to select their award package and receive accurate details about their bill, charges, and payments.

“PeopleSoft Campus Solutions fits easily within our IT architecture and provides the functionality we need to increase our operational efficiency and improve the student experience,” says Cindy Bixler, chief information officer for Embry-Riddle.

Other benefits of real-time information access include enhanced degree audit capabilities that show faculty and students details about each student’s progress toward graduation. This promotes more effective academic advising and results in greater student success, which is a key factor in Embry-Riddle’s ability to compete locally and internationally.

PeopleSoft Campus Solutions also improves the admissions process, with real-time progress updates on status and next steps toward enrollment.
