Independent Research Names Oracle a Leader for Contract Management

The independent research firm Forrester Research, Inc. named Oracle E-Business Suite a leader for contract lifecycle management in the most recent ranking of top vendors in this category.

Announcing the latest rankings in “The Forrester Wave: Contract Life-Cycle Management, Q2 2011,” (June 2011) Forrester gave Oracle Contracts, part of Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1, a 4.05 for product strategy and a 4.27 for market presence. The report also described Oracle E-Business Suite as “a strong product with excellent prospects.”

Oracle was among 10 vendors measured by Forrester against 113 criteria in three main areas: current offering, strategy, and market presence. Specific strengths highlighted by the research organization included buy-side contract generation from sourcing events, Web services support, and globalization.

The assessment also noted that “Oracle offers a [contract lifecycle management] solution closely integrated with its accounting, billing, and project costing tools on the [Oracle E-Business Suite] platform.”

Forrester added that the latest version of Oracle E-Business Suite includes two significant product enhancements added since 2010.
  • Expanded use of Oracle Business Intelligence Applications to provide extensive reports, key performance indicators, and graphical user interfaces.
  • User-defined attributes that provide greater configurability and extensibility. For instance, a user can create and define an attribute to assess contract risks and use this to drive amended approval workflows.
“We believe Forrester Research’s recognition of Oracle as a leader highlights our commitment to helping customers streamline management and improve compliance by providing a holistic, accurate view of contract-related activities,” says Paulo Back, Oracle’s vice president of applications development.
