Roadmaps Revealed: Enterprises Discuss Why They’re Adopting Oracle Fusion HCM

Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management has been designed from the ground up to be a fully integrated HR and talent management system that can run on-premise or in the cloud. It allows organizations to align their HR business to the rest of the organization and be more strategic with their talent. Oracle Fusion HCM also includes game-changing functionality such as actionable talent reviews, predictive analytics, and social networking.

Two early adopters of Oracle Fusion Applications spoke recently about how the latest Oracle solutions are helping them quickly expand their HCM resources.

Create a Performance Culture
The Principal Financial Group, a global investment management firm with US$320.8 billion in assets under management, currently runs Oracle’s PeopleSoft human capital management solutions and PeopleSoft financial management solutions, plus some custom applications for those areas. Now it’s adding Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management. “We’re good at managing financial resources; we wanted to apply the same rigor to HR,” says Kathleen Souhrada, vice president of human resources at The Principal Financial Group.

The Principal expects to launch the talent management and global compensation management modules in Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management by the end of 2011. It will continue to operate its existing PeopleSoft applications as on-premise solutions, but add Oracle Fusion Applications using the on-demand model.

The new solutions will underpin a larger effort that Souhrada describes as a transition to a performance culture, where the company disperses financial rewards and new career opportunities to staff members working at the highest performance levels. To support that goal, the company needs to put the necessary data and metrics into the hands of business managers.

“We believe Oracle Fusion can deliver a holistic view and ultimately drive the performance we need,” she explains.

Alcoa’s Strategic Move

Alcoa Inc., with about 59,000 employees worldwide, is one of the world’s largest aluminum producers. It’s embarking on a consolidation project that will replace four regional instances of Oracle E-Business Suite with one solution for managing employee records, compensation, and performance management. The move will include an upgrade to Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management.

“We’re looking at talent management strategically, including how to leverage our global talent pool,” says Nancy Wolf, Alcoa CIO. “This will enable us to manage our global talent from talent management to compensations to succession planning.”
