Oracle Releases Oracle Identity Management 11g Release 2 Patch Set 1

Oracle has released Oracle Identity Management 11g Release 2 Patch Set 1, which delivers key enhancements ranging from broader platform support and improved performance to converged access and more comprehensive identity governance.

"Since its release last summer, we have seen widespread and enthusiastic adoption of Oracle Identity Management 11g Release 2 as customers are eager to simplify and expand their identity management deployments," explains Scott Bonnell, senior director of product management at Oracle. "Our latest release builds on that momentum, helping organizations extend and govern access across enterprise, cloud, and mobile platforms with optimal performance and scalability."

Complete Identity Governance
The latest release delivers more-comprehensive identity governance with new features that enhance performance and provide greater insight. The release introduces Identity Auditor, a new feature that provides Oracle Fusion Middleware-based access certification capabilities that leverage the entitlements catalog and Oracle Identity Governance Suite, including Oracle Identity Manager Connector, as a source for data gathering. The Identity Auditor feature offers an easy-to-use, SOA-based inbox for all certification-related activity. The inbox includes actionable smart tags for tasks such as delegating and reassigning certifications. The solution also facilitates easy export of certification data to Excel for large campaigns, as well as enabling collaboration between business and IT certification processes to ensure that entitlements are both properly created and assigned.

"As compliance obligations evolve and the number of on-premises and cloud applications that organizations leverage to run their business grow, having a clear understanding of who has access to what, when, and why becomes increasingly important," says Bonnell. "Our latest release empowers business managers and enables better collaboration between these managers and the IT resources who implement access rights and entitlements."

Expanded Security for Mobile, Social, and Cloud
To support rapidly expanding mobile environments, Oracle Identity Management 11g Release 2 Patch Set 1 includes broader platform support, secure API management, and support for new internet identity providers. Oracle’s access management platform now extends mobile access management to the popular Android platform, in addition to the iOS platform. It also provides out-of-the-box identity provider support for Dropbox, Windows Live, and PayPal, in addition to Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Twitter, and LinkedIn, with expanded fraud detection to increase security. Further, the newly released Oracle API Gateway provides a lightweight API gateway to enable organizations to securely and rapidly adopt cloud, mobile, and SOA services. Companies can leverage Oracle API Gateway to extend common access, authorization, and risk policies to mobile, cloud, and enterprise applications to streamline security and enforce compliance.

Enhanced Platform Support
For heterogeneous IT environments, the latest release of Oracle Identity Management offers support for new platforms, including IBM HTTP server for access management, Android Mobile OS, and WebSphere certification across the identity management platform. In addition, Oracle Identity Manager Connector for Web Services provides SOA-based standardized integration to any target with a Web services interface. And Oracle Virtual Directory is now merged with Oracle Unified Directory, giving Oracle Directory Services customers the scalability, performance, and usability they have come to expect—all with a single install.

Low-Risk, High-Value Upgrades
The innovations in Oracle Identity Management 11g Release 2 Patch Set 1 are designed to significantly reduce operational costs and risks associated with upgrades, thanks to support for expanded use cases, coexistence with earlier versions, and comprehensive partner community training and communication.
