Oracle Introduces Platinum Services at No Extra Cost

Oracle announced Oracle platinum services, which provide value-added services at no additional cost for customers of Oracle Exadata Database Machine and other Oracle engineered systems.

"Oracle has changed the services game. This is the highest-level support in the industry,” says Oracle President Mark Hurd.

The new offering is a special entitlement for Oracle Premier Support customers that maintain a certified configuration and a two-way gateway with Oracle. In addition to receiving the complete support essentials with Oracle Premier Support, Oracle platinum services provides:
  • Remote 24/7 fault monitoring. Covered components are monitored by Oracle around-the-clock, providing a single point of accountability for the Oracle stack—helping to maximize availability.

  • Industry-leading response times. Customers can expect extremely fast response times—five-minute fault notification, 15-minute restoration or escalation to development, and joint debugging with Oracle development if the issue is not resolved within 30 minutes. Expert staff, including dedicated escalation managers, is available 24/7.

  • Proactive updates and patches. Proactive identification of best-practice configurations helps drive optimal performance. Quarterly, proactive planning and deployment of patches by Oracle to covered systems minimizes business disruption and enhances system performance.
“The platinum services offering has been a great addition to Oracle Premier Support," says Vincent Biddlecombe, CTO, Transplace. "We saw results very quickly, and our experience has exceeded my expectations." Transplace is a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology that relies on Oracle Exadata Database Machine to run its enterprise data warehouse.

Eliminate Complexity with Engineered Systems Plus Certified Configurations
Oracle engineered systems are preintegrated to reduce the cost and complexity of IT infrastructures while increasing productivity and performance. And now, customers that choose the extreme performance of Oracle Exadata Database Machine have the power to access the added support they need—Oracle platinum services—to further optimize high availability at no additional cost.

To be eligible to receive Oracle platinum services, Oracle Exadata Database Machine customers must be running a certified configuration—a defined combination of certified components that has been tested and certified by Oracle.

Together with Oracle's engineered systems approach, certified configurations create a unified base that enables Oracle to deliver the unprecedented, high-availability support of Oracle platinum services.

“Oracle platinum services is a new paradigm in IT support that further reinforces the value proposition of systems engineered to work together,” says Larry Abramson, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Advance Customer Support Services. “These platinum configurations are engineered together, tested together, and supported together. Oracle develops, engineers and supports every component in the solution and every component is best-in-class.”
