Oracle Introduces Enhanced Cloud Infrastructure Solution on SPARC and Solaris

Oracle recently expanded its Oracle Optimized Solution for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure with Oracle’s SPARC servers and Oracle Solaris operating system.

Oracle Optimized Solution for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure provides a complete, fully documented, pretested, and tuned architecture built on proven best practices that can dramatically reduce the time required to architect, deploy, and manage infrastructure as a service clouds—and ultimately lower TCO and improve agility for enterprises and cloud service providers. It addresses each layer of the infrastructure stack with storage, network, virtualization, and management configurations to provide a solid foundation for enterprise applications and databases.

The latest enhancement gives customers the ability to upgrade and virtualize their existing SPARC-based infrastructure. This foundation can lower total cost of ownership by up to 81 percent when organizations move from existing technologies to the latest SPARC T4 servers.

Other benefits include significantly reduced deployment times and system utilization rates of up to 80 percent. In addition, Oracle Optimized Solution for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure can be deployed at up to 50 percent lower cost over five years than comparable HP/VMware and IBM/PowerVM alternatives.

A Complete Package
The expanded solution takes advantage of Oracle’s ability to engineer hardware and software together. It combines With Oracle VM Server for SPARC and Oracle Solaris Zones, Oracle Optimized Solution for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure provides virtualization capabilities at no additional cost when combined with Oracle Premier Support services. Oracle VM Templates speed application deployment by enabling the installation of preconfigured software images, such as Oracle Database, in minutes.

Oracle Optimized Solution for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure is also available on x86 servers with Oracle Solaris or Oracle Linux.
