Must-See Webcast Series: The Thought Leadership Academy for Social Business

Technology has always been a driving force for business success and change, but the seismic shifts wrought by the consumerist convergence of social, mobile, Web, and cloud technologies has spawned a true sea of change in IT focus. For a social business, the computer is not the central focus of technology development; people are.

“It is a huge shift to think of your intranet as a large set of individual applications served up to mobile devices based on user need and interest, but that is how people consume applications today. It’s not a monolithic portal that’s PC-centric and one-size-fits-all, with most of the content touched by a minority of users,” says Christian Finn, senior director of product management, Oracle WebCenter.

Companies need to build a social business strategy or risk having their workforce implement such tools on the sly. The question is, how? One tenet lies in a company’s ability to build a user engagement platform—to put the user at the center of the technology focus with a solution such as Oracle WebCenter.

A user engagement platform must do two things well.
  • Connect people inside and outside an organization to the content they need to get their jobs done, regardless of location, time, or access device.
  • Perform reliably, securely, and flexibly.
