Latest Release of Oracle Retail Category Management Drives Better Store Performance

In January 2013, Oracle launched the latest version of Oracle Retail Category Management, which helps grocers, big box retailers, hardlines, and department stores drive same-store sales growth by creating assortments, pricing, and promotions tailored to specific customer segments.

“Today’s consumers have ready access to numerous ways to interact with retailers and shop for products,” explains Andrea Morgan-Vandome, Oracle’s vice president, retail strategy and solution marketing. “The challenge for retailers is to ensure that they are creating satisfying shopping experiences for their targeted customers. That process starts with thinking about planning decisions differently and considering how and where customers are shopping, and their preferences, and not just the traditional product, location, price, and time equation.”

In response, Oracle Retail Category Management helps retailers define and execute commerce anywhere with targeted assortments and floor- and shelf-space plans that maximize opportunities and enhance customer satisfaction.

Faster, More-Effective Planning and Execution
To create more-effective planning and execution, the latest version of Oracle Retail Category Management includes enhanced data integration as well as new planning and insight functionality. The result: faster, more-effective plans that create category winners and drive performance.

The latest release helps retailers

  • Accelerate planning. The latest version offers new, preconfigured, automated planning processes aligned with industry best practices that incorporate advanced data analysis and visualization tools. As a result, retailers can quickly and easily leverage multiple data sources, including market data as well as the retailer’s own data.
  • Reduce implementation time and cost. With expanded templates and data models, this release dramatically simplifies integration of data from multiple third-party syndicated data sources, including internal sources such as customer loyalty cards and point-of-sale information.
  • Improve profitability. Create space-aware, tailored assortments by using new embedded forecasting, customer segmentations, and consumer decision trees.

Built on Oracle Retail Predictive Application Server, Oracle Retail Category Management is the latest release within the suite of planning, optimization, forecasting, and supply chain solutions that are based on Oracle’s flexible and scalable platform for retail.
