Oracle Announces Three Important Enhancements to Its Enterprise Project Portfolio Management Portfolio
Oracle recently made a series of new product introductions in its lineup of solutions for enterprise project portfolio management (EPPM). Included are expanded versions of Oracle’s Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management 8.3 and Primavera P6 Analytics 3.1.
Oracle also introduced a new product, Primavera Gateway 1.0, a new integration platform that connects Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management with other enterprise applications to improve and streamline project planning and execution.
“Enterprises in asset-intensive industries often mention the need to have integration between Primavera P6 and their enterprise resource planning system,” says Kate McGettigan, principal product manager, Oracle’s Primavera. “Without this integration they have limited project-level collaboration between disciplines and across sites. This leads to an inability to effectively manage the project work within and across different business units and assets. This may also lead to delayed or ineffective decision making.”
Greater Support for Mobile Workers
Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management is Oracle’s industry-leading solution for prioritizing, managing, and evaluating projects and portfolios. Release 8.3 includes more options for importing global data and new features that optimize mobile solutions. The improvements give enterprises more options in how they disseminate information. The solution can also push status updates to mobile workers via e-mail.
“Customers told us they want the ability to send their team members a list of work assignments,” McGettigan says. “They also want to remind team members to submit their status updates. With the new e-mail status update feature, managers can send notifications to team members, and the e-mailed list of work can be filtered by timeframe, activity status, project, or any combination of these criteria.”
The latest release of Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management also provides advanced settings that provide better control over the data that organizations import from outside sources into Primavera P6 databases and data dictionaries.
Primavera P6 Analytics 3.1 is the latest version of Oracle’s business intelligence solution for Primavera users. The expanded analytics capabilities focus on addressing key challenges in asset-intensive industries. Enhancements include
- A new daily history that enables business users to capture activity and resource assignments to see day-to-day changes and analyze trends
- A new industry sample dashboard for documenting and analyzing key performance indicators typical of shutdown/turnaround/outage and routine/online maintenance projects
- The ability to capture slowly changing dimension values, such as an activity name, date, or code value
- Hierarchical viewing of global project, activity, and resource codes with no additional schema or .rpd edits required
