Cloud Services Option Gives Schools an Attractive New Choice for PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Human Capital Management, and Financials
In a move that will make Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, and PeopleSoft Financials available to more higher education institutions, Oracle announced new on-demand versions of the applications. The new delivery option enables colleges and universities to pay a set, per-student or per-employee fee each month, enabling them to receive the full lineup of software capabilities via a secure internet connection.
PeopleSoft Campus Solutions is a leading student management solution and alumni development solution for higher education. It helps colleges and universities manage recruiting, enrollment, and the academic progress of individual students.
On-demand availability means schools no longer need to buy software licenses, invest in hardware and related IT infrastructure, or devote internal staff to installing and maintaining the solution in house. Instead, the application is delivered and maintained by one of two Oracle partners, Higher Technology Solutions (HTS) or Ciber.
“We expect that this model will make PeopleSoft Campus Solutions more available to smaller and midsize schools, in addition to the large institutions that have widely adopted the solution,” says Wayne J. Brown, chief operating officer of HTS.
Brown adds, “The on-demand model will also give some schools the option of funding the solution using operations budgets rather than through capital investments, which may be advantageous for some institutions.”
Bruce Moore, Oracle practice director for Ciber, says that in addition to a SaaS model designed for multiple tenants and rapid implementation, schools also have a private or hybrid cloud option available on demand. This enables a single school or a group of institutions to share a common version of Campus Solutions that has been modified to meet specific requirements. "In each case, we implement the solution and maintain all the software and hardware resources over time," Moore explains.
