Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 Helps Manufacturers Improve Uptime and Boost Shop Floor Productivity
A wide range of powerful new capabilities were introduced in the latest version of Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2, including tools to help manufacturers achieve higher availability for core enterprise systems, as well as enhancements for making better business decisions, cutting costs, and boosting performance.
For higher availability, Oracle added online patching, which dramatically reduces planned maintenance downtime and increases performance by exploiting the advanced features in the Oracle platform.
"Online patching and many other new functions in the latest release of Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 help manufacturing firms that run 24/7 improve uptime and implement upgrades more quickly," says Stephen Slade, senior director, manufacturing, Oracle industry solutions marketing. "New features in order management, outsourcing, and in-memory costing are all geared to help both large and growing firms run their business with better information."
Additional innovations important for manufacturing and supply chain professionals include the following enhancements.

- Oracle Manufacturing Execution System features usability improvements such as express serialized manufacturing to help boost the productivity of shop floor operators and increase compliance through standardization. In addition, Oracle's electronic-kanban inventory planning and supply management solution helps enterprises successfully execute key lean manufacturing concepts.
- Oracle Purchasing provides improved integration, automated complex approval hierarchies, and embedded best practices for greater efficiency in purchasing processes.
- Oracle Supplier Lifecycle Management comes with an improved qualification user interface, qualification approval rerouting capabilities, and mandatory compliance documentation to speed supplier evaluations.
- Oracle Warehouse Management offers streamlined mobile user interfaces, enhanced managerial workbenches, improved catch-weight functionality, and better extensibility for greater fulfillment flexibility.
