Webcast: Gartner Research Director Explores the Latest Trends in Application Testing

On April 23, 2014, Oracle will host a new webcast devoted to the latest trends and technologies in application testing, with special guest Thomas E. Murphy, research director, Gartner.

In particular, the webcast will explore how, with the right tools, organization can speed testing processes even as they improve application quality.

“The majority of time spent on testing projects isn’t on the actual testing itself. IT companies, under increased pressure to speed delivery times even as they reduce costs, are looking at ways to spend less testing time while increasing quality,” explains Daniel Schrijver, senior principal product marketing director, Oracle Enterprise Manager.

In his presentation, Murphy will draw on his market research, including his work to prepare the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Integrated Software Quality Suites, which currently places Oracle in the Leaders quadrant.

About Oracle’s Application Quality Management Solutions
Oracle Enterprise Manager delivers the most comprehensive testing solution in the market. Oracle’s solutions also include application testing products, infrastructure testing products, test data management products, and cloud and lab management.

Each of these product sets have multiple solutions to address specific testing needs.

  • Application testing. Oracle Application Testing Suite's test management, functional testing, and load testing capabilities ensure the quality of web, SOA, and Oracle packaged applications such as Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Fusion Applications, and Oracle’s Siebel, PeopleSoft, and JD Edwards applications.
  • Infrastructure testing. Oracle Application Replay Pack and Oracle Real Application Testing enable realistic, production-scale testing of the application and database infrastructure. They use real production workloads to generate load against applications or databases under test and do not require any script development or maintenance. With Oracle Application Replay Pack and Oracle Real Application Testing you can reduce your testing time by more than 80 percent. They provide the most efficient, optimized, and highest-quality testing for validating application and database infrastructure changes.
  • Test data management. Oracle Test Data Management Pack and Oracle Data Masking Pack provide efficient, automated, and secure test system creation capabilities for Oracle Database and non-Oracle databases, with out-of-the-box templates for Oracle packaged applications. New in this area is snap cloning, which allows customers to quickly create clones of their test databases and reduce the storage needed to a fraction of the original size (for example, turning tens of TB storage to a few GB).
  • Cloud and lab management. Testing as a service, a cloud-based platform for delivering automated application testing services, is a self-service solution designed to build private testing clouds. It orchestrates the testing process end-to-end in the private testing cloud by automating the provisioning of test labs, including application-under-test and test tools. It also executes load and/or functional test scripts against the application, provides rich application monitoring and diagnostics data for analysis, and has a sophisticated chargeback facility for metering and charging the usage of the testing cloud by end users.
