Press and Analysts Welcome Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 4

Launched in June, Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 4 is winning praise for its ability to dramatically accelerate private cloud adoption, as well as for its groundbreaking database and middleware management capabilities.

From Zero to Cloud
New rapid-start capabilities in Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 4 enable IT organizations to get Oracle-based private clouds up and running with unprecedented speed. Specifically, the latest release includes faster delivery of broader service offerings incorporating advanced high availability and disaster recovery for services published in the service catalog.

"This week's launch of the latest version of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c underlines the software giant's developing focus on building and running databases and middleware in private clouds," writes Toby Wolpe on zdnet.com.

"The software has push-button provisioning of complete environments, such as service-oriented architectures (SOA) and Oracle Active Data Guard, which provides corruption detection and automatic repair in Oracle Databases," adds Antone Gonsalves on cruxialcio.com.

Richer, Smarter Tools for Middleware Management
Observers also commented on the new consolidated view of Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c, plus guided management capabilities that enable administrators to identify performance issues quickly and apply best-practice fixes.

"On the middleware management side, version 4 has a Java VM diagnostics-as-a-service feature for governed access to diagnostics data so IT staff can test applications to sort out problems and improve performance," writes Wolpe.

"There is also a new consolidated view of Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c deployments and guided management features to enable administrators to apply best management practice to middleware environments and spot performance issues quickly," adds Wolpe.

Enhanced Database Management
Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 4 also provides groundbreaking new tools for managing Oracle Database 12c. For example, a more comprehensive performance warehouse enhances predictive database diagnostics and helps identify problems before they occur.

In addition, new enterprise data-governance capabilities systematically discover and protect sensitive data for enhanced security. And to speed adoption, the new release provides step-by-step orchestration of upgrades with the ability to roll back changes.

"With the new release, the company has improved the process for deploying [Oracle Database12c] through Oracle Enterprise Manager. The software can orchestrate the setup of the new database, and can roll back changes should the installation fail. The software can also diagnose problems and potential issues," writes Joab Jackson in CIO magazine.
