Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 5: A Single Pane of Glass for Managing Hybrid Clouds

In June 2015, Oracle launched Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 5, which dramatically simplifies the journey to the cloud by enabling organizations to manage hybrid cloud environments with a single pane of glass.

The latest release comes as the complexities inherent in managing mixed-mode cloud environments are resulting in a startlingly high rate of operational failure.

“Many lines of business have adopted the public cloud as a tool for circumventing IT involvement,” says Oracle Senior Director, Product Marketing, Cloud and Enterprise Manager Moe Fardoost. “But the hidden costs and risks are becoming increasingly clear.”

Those costs include long implementation cycles, poor cloud performance, compliance issues, and negative user experiences.

Empower IT to Manage Hybrid Environments
In response, Oracle has launched Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 5—the first hybrid cloud management application for Oracle solutions. It empowers IT to manage hybrid environments with exactly the same practices they already use in their on-premises environments.

Hybrid cloud management has a wide range of uses, including:

  • Development and testing. The enormous elasticity of the public cloud makes it ideal for development and testing. To be successful, developers need to move databases and other application components back and forth between public and on-premises environments quickly and securely. Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 5 supports self-service provisioning and cloning of databases and applications across clouds.

  • Deployment of applications in public cloud environments. For an enterprise-grade deployment, IT operations teams must ensure the same degree of reliability as they deliver in existing systems. Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 5 enables IT to manage performance for public cloud apps and on-premises apps from a single interface.

  • Compliance and governance. By providing a single pane of glass that unifies both private and public clouds, the latest release helps CIOs and other IT executives ensure security, compliance, and governance across all their offerings.
