Gartner Positions Oracle in the Leaders Quadrants for Transportation Management and Supply Chain Planning
Gartner, Inc. has named Oracle a Leader in two of its latest Magic Quadrant reports, "Magic Quadrant for Transportation Management Systems" and "Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning System of Record." In addition, Oracle received the highest-ratings for company and product assessment in Gartner's "Vendor Panorama for Trade Promotion Management in Consumer Goods, 2014" report.
Gartner's Magic Quadrant reports position vendors within a particular quadrant based on both their completeness of vision and their ability to execute.
Magic Quadrant for Transportation Management Systems
"Reducing freight costs continues to be the prime motivation for investing in a transportation management system. However, securing capacity and improving overall freight efficiency are becoming equally strong motivations," write the authors of Gartner's "Magic Quadrant for Transportation Management Systems" report.
"Leaders have a compelling vision and a reliable ability to execute," the authors continue. "Leaders in the TMS market have broad, deep, and formidable functionality that addresses a broad range of user requirements. These vendors have proven products and track records of customer success, and have demonstrated momentum in growing their market presence. Leading vendors support sophisticated and complex transportation strategies for large customers with substantial freight spending, as well as their ability to deploy their TMSs in smaller shippers. They also meet the needs of users throughout the transportation process, with offerings from tactical planning and procurement through to freight payment and audit functionality. Leaders also offer adaptable technical architectures that allow for rapid innovation, which is needed to stay ahead of market demands. Furthermore, Leaders must have an SCE convergence strategy, as well as real examples of converged processes supported by their offering."
Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning System of Record
"Leaders demonstrate strong SCP [supply chain planning] SOR [system of record] vision and execution capabilities," according to the report. "They have an expansive set of functional capabilities spanning most, if not all, of the key functional modules of Gartner's SCP SOR reference model. Their coverage across the three categories of planning functionality—design, optimize and respond—is good, especially for the optimize-planning category. They have a good range of SCP SOD [system of differentiation] solutions and are strong in the nonfunctional SCP SOR capabilities, such as the architecture of their SCP solutions, scalability, and speed, and availability of configurable analytics. They have established firm, functional, and technical road maps that closely align with Gartner's view of a good future-proofed SCP SOR."
Gartner's Vendor Panorama for Trade Promotion Management in Consumer Goods, 2014
"Technologies related to managing trade promotions have never been more relevant, as the average revenue expended by manufacturers for promotions now exceeds 20 percent of revenue," the report states. "Companies are leaving spreadsheets for automated technologies, while others are adding promotion optimization capabilities."
"Consider automating these processes as soon as possible if you are using spreadsheets to manage promotional planning and trade funds," says the report's author. "With trade spending continuing to increase and the need for strong analytics as a differentiator, it doesn't make sense to wait."
