New Oracle Mobile Security Suite Extends Unified Security of Leading Identity Management Platform to Support Mobility

As the adoption of bring your own device (BYOD) policies continue to accelerate, Oracle has launched the new Oracle Mobile Security Suite, which enables organizations to safely provide access to sensitive enterprise applications and data on users’ preferred mobile devices.

Together with Oracle’s existing identity and access solutions, the new suite provides an integrated platform for managing access to all applications on all types of devices—from laptops and desktops to mobile devices.

Redefining Perimeter Security
In the age of BYOD, the network can no longer serve as the main point of control. That means organizations must adopt a new security model built around people, data, and devices.

Unfortunately, the traditional device-centric approach to mobile security can lead to silos, which can in turn require expensive integration with enterprisewide identity solutions. In response, Oracle Mobile Security Suite takes an application- and user-centric approach, so that IT can administer and manage access with greater efficiency as well as security.

"Oracle Mobile Security Suite brings the strength of the Oracle Identity Management platform to mobile devices, and as a result helps organizations address the BYOD challenge with a logical approach,” says Amit Jasuja, senior vice president of Identity Management and Security at Oracle.

Key benefits include

  • Mobile security controls. New controls include geo-fencing to limit access or restrict functionality based on location; application policy control, such as limiting copy/paste/print to prevent data loss; per-application secure networking for data confidentiality; and efficient local data encryption with support for remotely wiping enterprise data and applications when a user’s access is terminated.
  • Simple and powerful user experience. The suite includes an e-mail client, secure browser, file manager, white pages app, document editor, and mobile app catalog that can serve as an app store. Users sign on once with their enterprise credential for access to all their bespoke and commercial off-the-shelf apps, websites, or file shares in the secure workspace.
  • Advanced identity controls. Organizations can leverage the advanced security controls available from Oracle Identity Management, which in turn helps support a forward-looking approach as BYOD continues to grow and evolve.
