How to Fuel Social Media Success in Government

Whether they're federal, regional, or local, government organizations have a lot to like about social media. The right strategy can spur business development by helping attract tourists and businesses to an area, provide lower-cost platforms for disseminating information, improve emergency services, and respond to constituent complaints.

But government organizations also face daunting social media challenges. "Many governments still use manual processes for creating and publishing content and monitoring citizen sentiment," says Franco Amalfi, director of social programs for Oracle Public Sector North America. "That's time-consuming and makes it difficult to identify the most important areas to focus on."

The answer is a solution that manages the entire range of social media activities across multiple channels, including Facebook, Google+, and Twitter. Oracle Social Cloud is a cloud service that helps government organizations achieve these goals by using an integrated set of Oracle's social relationship management (SRM) technologies, including tools for social listening, social engagement, social marketing, social content and applications, and social analytics.

"Our goal is to help deliver the best experience wherever the constituent engages with an organization," says Amalfi. "Only Oracle can connect every interaction constituents have with the organization."

A new webcast, "Unlocking the Power of Social Media for Government," examines these benefits for the public sector.

For example, organizations can use Oracle Social Cloud to create content once and then publish it to multiple social media platforms, which reduces costs and assures consistent messaging. Analytics then measure the success of new campaigns and help quickly identify areas for improvement.

In addition to providing all the tools for managing a holistic social media strategy, Oracle Social Cloud is integrated with Oracle's marketing automation, service automation, sales automation, and commerce systems. "This makes it straightforward to add social functionality to an organization's existing Oracle investment," Amalfi says.
