Oracle Unveils Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service

In October 2012, Oracle unveiled Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service. Based on Oracle Hyperion Planning, this new service provides world-class financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting with all the benefits of cloud, including subscription-based pricing and no IT infrastructure investments.

The new planning and budgeting offering is part of Oracle's larger cloud strategy—widely considered the industry's broadest and most advanced. Oracle has made major investments in cloud-based applications, including key acquisitions. The result: Oracle is now delivering more than 100 applications through Oracle Cloud.

Industry First: Core Enterprise Performance Management Applications as a Cloud-Based Service
With this announcement, Oracle becomes the first major vendor to offer one of its core enterprise performance management (EPM) applications as a cloud-based service. While other major vendors have recently announced cloud-based EPM solutions, they mostly encompass business intelligence dashboards delivered via a cloud platform.

"Now, organizations struggling with spreadsheets or legacy planning and budgeting applications can deploy a world-class solution—even with limited IT resources and capital budgets," explains John O’Rourke, vice president of product marketing, Oracle.

The solution is available as a standalone solution or as an extension to Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud Service, with implementation services available from Oracle and the Oracle PartnerNetwork.

Benefits include

  • Subscription-based pricing
  • Extreme scalability and performance
  • Integrated financial reporting and Microsoft Office interface
  • Data integration with Oracle and non-Oracle transactional applications

Industry-Standard Oracle Hyperion Planning as a Solid Foundation
Based on Oracle Hyperion Planning, Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service provides a centralized Excel- and Web-based planning, budgeting, and forecasting solution. By tightly integrating financial and operational planning models, Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service also provides an in-depth look at business operations and the related impact on financials.

Organizations can leverage Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service to

  • Ensure accuracy: Validate forecasts with integrated, best-in-class analytics
  • Reduce budgeting time: Improve cycles by weeks or months
  • Align the organization: Combine financial and operational planning in one system
  • Address finance needs quickly: Meet immediate finance needs while enabling operations-specific budgeting processes
