Oracle’s Integrated Solutions Help Manufacturers Transform Their Businesses

Although leading enterprises including the Land O’ Lakes dairy cooperative and Korean Airlines serve vastly different markets, they have something important in common—both organizations leverage Oracle technologies to transform isolated business units into unified operations to reduce costs, mitigate errors, and improve the overall customer experience for their clients.

In the following interview, John Barcus, Oracle’s vice president of manufacturing industry solutions, explains how Oracle helps enterprises undertake similar transformations with end-to-end, integrated solutions built from Oracle’s technology portfolio.

Q: What exactly are Oracle industry solutions?
A: Industry solutions are a combination of Oracle products that work together to solve a critical business problem. Oracle has more than 10,000 products—we group relevant ones together to address key problems holistically.

Q: What solution sets are available for the manufacturing industry?
A: We’ve been focusing on three key solution areas: first, customer experience (CX)—how a manufacturer improves overall CX for its clients. Second, CX service, a solution for helping manufacturing companies transform their business to become more service-oriented to improve customer relationships and increase revenues and margins. Third, CX fulfillment, a solution set we’re developing to help companies fill customer orders more efficiently. This area is becoming more complex as organizations engage their customers across multiple sales, marketing, and service channels.

Q: What Oracle products will be part of Oracle’s CX fulfillment solution?
A: Oracle Fusion Distributed Order Orchestration is one key component. It addresses the growing challenges of engaging customers across multiple channels and then fulfilling orders from multiple locations. Oracle Fusion Distributed Order Orchestration helps send orders to the proper departments or locations to satisfy that demand by taking advantage of a rules-driven engine to simplify the workflow process. This degree of optimized automation helps companies minimize mistakes, cut costs, and increase customer satisfaction.

Q: Are there other solution sets on the horizon for the manufacturing industry?
A: We’re creating one for product development innovation, as well as for other areas.
