Enhanced SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 Offers Extreme Consolidation and Rapid Cloud Deployments
Oracle released a new software upgrade for Oracle’s SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 that enables customers to efficiently consolidate any combination of enterprise databases, middleware, and applications, and rapidly deploy secure, self-service cloud. These enhancements will ship with new implementations of SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 and are available as free upgrades for current users of the platform.
The updated SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 engineered system delivers even greater time and cost savings from integrated SPARC T4-4 servers, Oracle Solaris 11, Oracle Exadata Storage Servers, Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software, and unified systems management via Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c.
Immediate Savings and Long-Term Benefits
The update can deliver a wide range of benefits for data centers, including the following.
Extreme efficiency for application consolidation. SPARC SuperCluster T4-4’s new layered, zero-overhead virtualization delivers up to 1.5 times higher consolidation ratios than competing virtualization technologies, and allows enterprises to consolidate more applications on a single system. SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 customers can now deploy multitenant and highly available applications without wasting resources on virtualization overhead. Oracle Databases can now run within Oracle Solaris Zones to enable secure, isolated database services. Multiple Oracle Database and enterprise application domains can be configured on each SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 compute node to maximize deployment flexibility.
Self-service cloud implementations. The latest enhancements enable organizations to quickly launch secure, multitenant cloud services for enterprise applications and Oracle Database. SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 enables local administrators to provision multitenant application cloud services up to ten times faster and create an Oracle Database instance up to 32 times faster. SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 comes with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c, providing a complete cloud lifecycle management solution that includes self-service provisioning and integrated chargeback and capacity planning.
Customers See Cost Savings
Global customers are using SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 for consolidation and cloud installations. This includes Outsourcing Inc., a Japanese company that operates a worldwide employment outsourcing business, and Ativas, a Brazilian managed service provider. Outsourcing Inc. foresees significant savings from consolidating multiple complex enterprise applications, reducing system administration, and moving from an external hosted service to its own virtualized cloud infrastructure based on SPARC SuperCluster T4-4. Ativas selected SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 to provide multitenant cloud hosting of applications and Oracle Database 11g Release 2 in a highly secure, high availability architecture for its customers across Latin America.
