To participate in any of the Oracle University Knowledge Center online course offerings users should meet the minimum system requirements as listed below.

Platforms and Supported Browsers

  • Win-98               Netscape 4.7x, IE 5.5, IE 6.0

  • Win-XP              Netscape 4.7x, IE 6.0
Note: The Oracle iLearning product development team under Learner/Administrator UI testing covers the platforms and supported browsers listed above. Platforms/browsers other than those included in the test program may be used.

 

Computer Specifications

  • 120MHz Intel Pentium processor or equivalent (audio only)
  • 64MB of RAM
  • 16-bit sound card and speakers
  • 65,000-color video display card (video)
  • 1024 x 768 screen resolution for optimal viewing

Connection Speed

  • 28.8Kpbs modem or better bandwidth connection to the Internet. (Although, a 56k modem is highly recommended if making use of streaming media files.)

Browser Settings

  • JavaScript must be enabled (this is the default setting for both Netscape and Internet Explorer).
  • Cookies must be enabled (this is the default setting for both Netscape and Internet Explorer).

Real Player Client Installation

1. If you don't have Real Player currently installed, the click here to install Real Player

  • When you click on the above link and get forwarded to the RealNetworks.com Real Player download site, you can select the FREE version Real Player.
  • After clicking on link to Real Player, fill out the brief form to download free Real Player
  • For the fastest download time, you can select Real Player MINIMUM. The extra tools you get when downloading Real Player COMPLETE or STANDARD are not needed to view Oracle Learning Network content.
  • Select a download site that is closest to you and download the Real Player installation file.
  • When the download is complete, double click on the downloaded .EXE file to begin the installation.
  • During the installation, a number of screens will appear. One of them prompts for a bandwidth connection speed (28.8 modem, DSL/CABLE, T1 Corp LAN, etc), be sure to choose the connection speed that matches your internet connection to get the best performance from Real Player.

2. To test your installation of Real Player, please select one of the options below:

Streaming VIDEO tutorial ( click here ) : The following instructor led tutorial contains a slide presentation accompanied with a video of the instructor. This option is recommended for fast, broadband internet connections of the following bandwidth types:

  • 112K Dual ISDN
  • 256Kbps DSL/Cable
  • 384Kbps DSL/Cable
  • 512Kbps DSL/Cable
  • T1/LAN
  • 10Mbps LAN

Streaming AUDIO tutorial ( click here ) : The following instructor led tutorial contains a slide presentation accompanied with an audio track of the instructor narrating the presentation. When you select this option, there is NO streaming video.

This option is recommended for dial-up, telephone modem type internet connections of the following bandwidth types:

  • 28.8K Modems
  • 33.6K Modems
  • 56K Modems

Real Player Client Configuration

  • Be sure you are using IE 5.5 or Netscape 4.6.- 4.7
  • Make sure cookies are enabled for your browser.
  • To confirm cookies are enabled in NETSCAPE:
  • Choose menu item EDIT --> PREFERENCES.
  • In Preferences window under Categories on left side of window, select ADVANCED option, then select checkbox labeled "Accept all cookies"
  • To confirm cookies are enabled in Internet Explorer:
  • Choose menu item TOOLS --> INTERNET OPTIONS.
  • In Internet Options window, select SECURITY folder tab.
  • Under the Security folder tab, select CUSTOM LEVEL button.

Completion Status
Transcripts and Certificates of Completion
Transcripts provide the learner with an inventory of Completed Offerings, Expired Offerings, Unenrolled Offerings. To access your transcript page, click the Profile tab and select Transcripts from the menu items shown.

Certificate of Completion is available to learners who have successfully completed all components of the content offering. Click the Certificate Icon to view the certificate. You may select the Print option to obtain a printed version of the certificate.
